In the early 1900s, pioneers from New England trekked down to the southeast coast of Florida to live on an island between the river and the sea. They called their community Riomar and spent paradisiacal summers on and off the water. Growing up on an island off of Florida, my idols were these local watermen: I admired their versatility and their effortless shift from a morning surf, to the office, to an afternoon spear fishing, to a family dinner of the fish shot earlier.
Riomar is a way of life. It’s that spot between the river and the sea. It’s a heading to follow while negotiating the ever-changing world around us. We've made a shoe to capture the Riomar spirit – and since we recognize the need to conserve our marine resources for future generations, we donate 5% of all profits to the Coastal Conservation Association of Florida.
