Just as you likely change your golf wardrobe with the weather, your skincare routine needs an adjustment as well. With summer comes more time on the course, which means more sun exposure – and everything that comes with it: think dryness, redness, and damage. On top of that, summer vacation (and the requisite travel) can disrupt your skin health, too.
Fielding summer concerns requires the right ingredients and formulas, and you can find them all in the NYDG Skincare Travel Essentials Set
. It’s good for more than just stashing in your carry-on (although with everything clocking in at TSA-approved sizes, you don’t have to worry about it slowing you down as you go through security.) These unisex formulas will help keep your skin on point all summer, no matter where in the world you are.
Step 1: Cleanse
The Colloidal Oatmeal Cleanser may be more of a multitasker than you are. “The oatmeal cleanser is almost like a moisturizer,” says David Colbert, MD, dermatologist and founder of New York Dermatology Group in New York City. “It doubles as a makeup remover and it’s so soothing and natural.” Oatmeal is a well-known anti-inflammatory ingredient, so much so that it’s often recommended to quell sunburns. So if you skimped on your SPF, it’ll come in handy.
Step 2: Hydrate
Next up is the Luminizing Skin Essence, which conditions and preps skin for the products that follow. Essences – light, toner-like liquids that are a mainstay in Korean beauty – have a special advantage. Think of your skin as a sponge: Moistening it enables it to better absorb whatever you put on top of it. This lightweight essence does the trick without feeling heavy or greasy.
Step 3: Moisturize
Next comes your moisturizer. This set offers two: the Ultra-Light Hydra Gel and Formula 119 Cream. The Hydra Gel is a lighter daytime formula, while the richer Formula 119 Cream helps repair skin overnight. “People don’t realize that the skin gets dry when it’s hot out,” says Colbert. “A lightweight moisturizer will address that without it feeling sticky or heavy.” The cream is packed with antioxidants, which repair cellular damage caused by sun exposure, pollution, and other environmental stressors.
Step 4: Treat
If you’re jet-lagged (or stayed out late following a few rounds with your friends), the Re-Contour Eye Gel protects and soothes the delicate eye area with licorice root. “The gel feels really refreshing, and you can dab that on as many times a day as you want,” Colbert says. Dark circles are so last spring, anyway.
Step 5: Protect
Last but definitely not least, apply Chem-Free Active Defense SPF 30 everywhere. No exceptions. It not only defends against UV damage with zinc oxide—a sun-protective mineral that won’t irritate skin—but also hydrates skin with argan oil. It’s especially helpful if you have travel on your schedule. “When you’re on vacation, you’re probably in the ocean or the pool, so hydration is important,” notes Colbert.
