Sun, Socks, and Scavenger Hunts: An ACC Travel Diary

By Amy Sapp

This July, Shop with Golf set up camp at the American Century Championship in South Lake Tahoe, California, showcasing seven brands in a picturesque pop-up against the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada. (Don’t fret if you missed it – you can shop the pop-up online here.)

In honor of the event, JL The Brand even partnered with Shop with Golf to bring patrons an exclusive sock box featuring six whimsically patterned pairs of socks curated especially for the tournament. Brand co-founder Louis Oswald met us in Tahoe to lead our Instagram followers on a scavenger hunt through the course. Each day, Louis sported a different pattern that corresponded with his scavenger hunt antics. Read on to find out what he got up to in Tahoe.

King of the Course
The “king” of the pop-up, Louis wore Grey Crowns when he stopped by Hole 17 to scope out Shop with Golf’s set-up. Louis snapped some selfies with the JL The Brand logo – before playing a slot at a neighboring casino, of course. When in Nevada…

In a Flash
With lightning precision, Louis snagged a bottle of champagne to “compete” in his own version of the tournament’s annual spray-off competition, mirroring the real one taking place nearby.

Double-Cross Shot
Visiting Edgewood Tahoe? Beware of Hole 18, the toughest stop on the course. In honor of its difficulty, Louis wore grey skull socks, warning passersby of the “deathly” difficulty awaiting them at Hole 18.

Hole in One
You can’t go wrong with a classic navy sock. In honor of Shop with Golf’s “Putt for a Million” challenge (where one lucky sweepstakes winner took his shot a 50-foot putt with a million dollars on the line), Louis wore his Chapman Navy socks in hole-in-one solidarity.

Gopher It
Lake Tahoe is known for its gorgeous atmosphere and beautiful natural landscape – so Louis donned his tongue-in-cheek Gopher socks to explore the trees lining Edgewood Tahoe.

Clubhouse Classic
Louis rounded out his packed week in Lake Tahoe with a simple nod to the American Century Championship, wearing a classic Navy Golf Clubs sock.

Watch Louis tick off each task along his Lake Tahoe scavenger hunt.
